What is Extend?

Extend is a payments app that allows you to create and send Virtual Cards with your existing eligible American Express® Card.

What is a Virtual Card?

It's a digital card with its own card number, expiration date, and spending limit. These controls are what give you better control over spending and reduce your exposure risk for better security. Use your existing eligible American Express® Card to create Virtual Cards that are linked to the same physical Card.

How does it work?

First, create an Extend profile and register your eligible American Express® Business Card. Then you can create your own Virtual Cards that are linked to that Card.

Are Virtual Cards accepted everywhere?

You can make online payments with your Virtual Card anywhere American Express Cards are accepted, just like you do with your plastic Card.

Will I earn rewards on Virtual Card purchases?

Yes, you will earn the rewards of your Card on your Virtual Card purchases.2

Terms & Conditions

Card enrollment required for U.S. eligible American Express Business, Corporate or Corporate Purchasing Card. Separate enrollment with each of Extend and American Express required to utilize combined product offering. There is no fee to generate American Express virtual Cards. Users must agree to Extend's terms and conditions available at app.paywithextend.com/terms . The supplier must be an American Express accepting merchant.
